Protodeacon Stephen Kroll

Protodeacon

A native of Texas, Protodeacon Steven graduated from the University of Texas, Arlington where he discovered Orthodoxy. He began attending St. Seraphim Orthodox Cathedral in 1986. This has been his home parish ever since.

He developed a close relationship with the ever-memorable Archbishop Dmitri and it was through him that he received his catechetical instruction and Chrismation into the church. 

He met his future wife, Inga Ingver, in the parish. They were joined in Holy Matrimony by Archbishop Dmitri in May 1993. They are the parents of two grown sons, Johannes and Joachim.

Protodeacon Steven served as cathedral subdeacon from 1996-2004, he received his diaconal formation through an independent study program led by Archbishop Dmitri, and was ordained by him to the Holy Diaconate in 2004. 

He was awarded the double orarion in 2016, elevated to the dignity of Protodeacon in 2019, and was awarded the right to wear the kamilavka in 2021.
